2018 was a huge year for the Australian car scene. Due to local law enforcement, the past few years have seen a decline in the activity surrounding the scene and events catering to the enthusiasts. For the most part, there are a few big events and the occasional meet. The crew from Hot Import Nights wanted to change this.
Hot Import Nights is an American based automotive event powerhouse that has taken many titles within the car scene, but their most recent acquisition is breaking into the Aussie show circuit. 2017 saw the first event at Sydney's Olympic Park showgrounds, which wasn't too bad for a taste test to see how it would stand up. 2018 came around and they killed it! Moving the event to the larger halls and filling it with quality over quantity was always going to be a recipe for success.
The theme this year seemed to be Wide and Low, with many opting for "bolt-on" style flares to fit huge wheels and airbags rather than static to get the chassis touching the concrete. The quality of builds this year jumped up from 2017's event and saw more interstate cars making the trek to Sydney.
You'd be mistaken if you thought a car show was just about cars. HIN also had on offer, a street dancing competition, loads of vendor stalls, a food truck alley, DJ's, Sneaker swapmeet and the famous Miss HIN competition (Props to my friend Kara for taking the win!).
If 2018 is anything to go by, i can't wait to see what 2019 has to offer.
